In Which One Is Different?, finding the one shape whose colour is slightly off among nine identical shapes trains fine visual discrimination — noticing small differences between shades. As correct answers add up, the colour difference shrinks and, after a certain point, a time limit kicks in; this gradual increase sharpens visual acuity step by step without wearing out the child's attention. Moving from a 3x3 grid to 4x4 enlarges the area to be checked at once, which also brings scanning skills into play.
